Digitizing Analog Videos, Records, and Tapes to Salvage Old Treasures with Rescue Pack

Retailbox_TerraTec_Rescue_PackMore and more people are looking to digitize their old records, analog VHS cassettes, and audio treasures. Catering to this growing demand, the Nettetal-based multimedia specialist TerraTec Electronic has rolled out a new salvage solution called Rescue Pack. It consists of two components: Grabby is a video cutting application that turns old VHS tapes into top-notch quality digital movies with just a few mouse clicks. The other, phono PreAmp iVinyl, is geared for audiophiles. Slightly larger than a cigarette packet, this preamplifier allows users to process vinyl records and audio cassettes in professional quality at the PC and then immortalize tracks on CD. Priced at 99.99 euros, TerraTec Rescue Pack is available now.

Connecting TerraTec’s Grabby is an exercise in convenience. Simply plug it into a computer or notebook’s USB 2.0 port and install the MAGIX software application Movies on DVD – that’s it. Once the video recorder is connected, nothing stands in the way of saving cherished memories and collected series. Users can digitize videos in standard MPEG 1 and MPEG 2 DVD formats with the greatest ease: Simply start the video recorder, press Grabby’s record button, and go. Users may then edit out superfluous scenes, add cross-fade effects, load their favorite song to the audio track, and put a pretty title on it all. Personalized menus are formatted and the results burned to DVD in a matter of minutes.

phonoPreAmp iVinyl also comes in very handy. Normally when people wish to process a track on a vinyl record at the computer, they must first load it to the computer via a hi-fi amp. But record players and audio cards work with different audio signals. TerraTec’s phono PreAmp iVinyl not only offers a convenient alternative, its sound quality also puts many hi-fi amps to shame. The outboard housing has been painstakingly shielded against interference. It runs externally, so there is no need to open the computer’s housing. Simply connect the phonograph and PC via phono PreAmp iVinyl – that’s all it takes to get started. Powered by the USB connection, this device needs neither a mains socket nor a driver. phono PreAmp iVinyl ships with a powerful software tool by Algorithmix. It removes or perceptibly reduces unwanted noise such as clicks, crackling and hiss in real time while preserving the original sound and audio quality. A dedicated package for the Mac world includes Roxio’s excellent SpinDoctor software.

More on Grabby: The MAGIX software application Movies on DVD offers features not only newcomers will enjoy. Its intuitive user interface and clearly structured menu make it the ideal solution for creating one’s own movies on DVD or CD. Experts are also sure to enjoy the many advanced settings.
