March 2008 - New from TerraTec: Cinergy S PCI - Digital Satellite TV for the Home PC
TerraTec Electronic is poised to extend its range of TV products with Cinergy S PCI, a digital plug-in card for the home computer. A digital satellite uplink must be available to enable reception. Cinergy C PCI turns the PC into a second television set. And because digital radio broadcasts, like TV shows, are transmitted in excellent quality, it also turns the computer into another radio. Cinergy S PCI is slated to ship in March, retailing for 59.99 euros.
TerraTec’s optimized TV software brings video recorder capabilities to the computer. Called THC (TerraTec Home Cinema), this application offers a wealth of functions. Time shifting (time-delayed television) lets viewers interrupt programs and resume viewing later at the same place. THC covers the full range of TV applications. It transforms computers into powerful video recorders that may be controlled manually, remotely, and even via Internet or mobile phone. And the latest version now offers multi-tuner support and even picture-in-picture functionality. Alongside its extensive array of station and favorites management tools, THC provides an impressive and convenient search for the electronic program guide. Much like Google, the EPG search finds specific TV broadcasts based on keywords. Once the software locates the targeted shows, users can immediately program them.
