All the user has to do is select a news, stock exchange, or sports broadcast using the electronic program guide (EPG). The computer then boots automatically at the start of the program and shuts down again when the show has aired to conserve energy.

A very helpful “boss alert” function prevents potential embarrassments at the office: If the supervisor happens to stop by during a World Cup match, the viewer can minimize the entire application, mute the audio, and activate the time-shift function with a single THC key combination. When the boss moves on again, the viewer can resume watching the broadcast at the point of interruption. No fan has to miss a single goal of the competition, even at work!

This solution also turns notebooks and PCs into powerful video recorders. Updates are loaded automatically, ensuring the Cinergy user’s PC always runs the latest version.
