The Ergonomic, Stylish and Audiophile-ish Mobile Sound Station from TerraTec
Ergonomic and stylish, TerraTec’s new SubSession Stage 3 is chock-full of the latest technology. For one, digital audio, USB, and power are routed via the same cable! Beyond that, this new mobile sound reinforcement station is a 2.1 speaker system, docking station, and notebook cooler in one. Inside the elegant chassis reside an efficient, whisper-quiet fan (< 20 dB), two loudspeakers, a subwoofer, and a high-quality Class-D amp that delivers powerful, transparent sound. The enclosure is 70 mm tall and houses two high-quality 2”, 2-watt speakers and a 2 ¼”, 10-watt subwoofer. Stage 3 is slated for release in March and priced at 79.99 euros.
Connected via USB, the sound system provides a platform for the notebook. This inclines the keyboard slightly, provided a welcome ergonomic advantage when typing. The quiet fan dissipates heat from the notebook and can be operated even when the sound system is off. An eye-catching highlight of SubSession Stage 3 is a bright LED that floods the notebook from below with a rather pleasant blue light.
Connecting the system is easy, and there is no feed to fuss with elaborate driver installation routines. People who get their musical pleasure from an MP3 player can also enjoy the enhanced audio that comes courtesy of SubSession Stage 3. External audio devices are easily connected to its line input.
