Nettetal / Germany. A convenience that wireless and mobile phone users have long enjoyed is finally coming to satellite television. People have grown accustomed to roaming freely around the house, telephone in hand and communicating at will. However, users who wished to watch TV broadcasts received by a satellite dish have to date been ‘tied’ to fixed coaxial ports. Those days are over because now TV signals can be distributed all around house without wires getting in the way. TERRATEC Electronic, a multimedia vendor based in the lower Rhine region, has unveiled the digital TV receiver Connect N3. It enables users to watch sat TV anywhere in the house, garden and patio with no need for a coaxial port or other base station. Simply connect the Connect N3 to the SAT dish and the router – that is all it takes to send digital satellite TV and radio to computers and notebooks via a wireless link. Slated for mid-March release, Connect N3 is priced at 169 euros.
This convenient device promises better days ahead for owners of digital satellite systems. Henceforth, testy teenagers in the throes of puberty and sports-loving fathers can readily turn their laptops into another TV set whenever they wish. And with that, domestic bliss and peace in the family are guaranteed. Housed in an inconspicuous box, Connect N3 routes the TV signal directly via the WiFi network (WLAN), freeing users of the constraints of place. Connect N3 also features a built-in Draft N access point, which provides a wireless link that makes accessing the installed wireline network an exercise in convenience. Windows Media Center provides all the viewing functions and features, so there is no need for added TV software.
