Ripping tracks from your CD collection to .mp3s is all very well, but what if your music is in older formats? The answer for those of us who still have LPs or tapes is this little gadget from TerraTec. The device is about the size of a couple of cassette boxes, and connects your turntable or tape deck to your computer´s USB port.

Setting it up is dead easy. Just plug the turntable or cassette deck into the convertor and connect it to a USB socket. The computer will detect the new hardware and it is ready to use. Two buttons on the front help you to match the iVinyl to your input signal. The computer stores the digitised recording, then helps you eliminate any crackles or clicks with various filters.
Verdict: A simple way to listen to your treasured vinyl and cassette recordings on the move
